I’ll be honest. This idea came to me last night after drinking several glasses of wine (after drinking several days this weekend) and feeling like I wasn’t making the right choices on intake (food + booze + everything in between) and less concerned on how it was effecting me now and long term. I know the neglect of my usual routine came from all the temptations of Summer, but as we slowly slip into a different season, I feel the need to kick-start my mind, body and soul with some different classes I’ve been wanting to take at Lincoln Square Athletic Club (apart of the Chicago Athletic Clubs). Their wide variety of classes are a great way to break fatigue, stretch some unused muscles and boost my energy!

Here is my breakdown of workouts Monday – Friday this week:

Monday: CXWORX (30 min)

Six tracks to a six pack. A short, sharp workout that will inspire you to the next level of fitness, while strengthening and toning your body. CXWORX hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It is ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.

Tuesday: Yoga Sculpt (60 min)

As a modern form of yoga that combines Vinyasa Yoga, strength training, cardiovascular fitness and core work, this class uses weights to strengthen the practice, while helping tone and shape the body. Burn calories, build stamina, increase strength and flexibility, while adding lean muscle mass.

Wednesday: GRIT Cardio (30 min)

Les mills GRIT Cardio is a high-impact, high intensity, high energy cardio workout like nothing else. Designed to burn fat and rapidly improve athletic capability, this explosive 30-minute workout combines body weight exercises and uses no equipment.

Thursday: Light Weights, Elliptical and Stretching (1.5 hours)

I’m assuming by Thursday I won’t be able to walk, so a light aerobic exercise will be in order. My usual routine includes:

  • 60 minutes on the Elliptical ranging from level 5-12 throughout
  • 15 minutes machine and free weights
  • 15 minutes core and stretching

Friday: Cardio Jam (60 min)

This cardio dance class is a workout designed around repetition. Rock out with non-stop movement to great tunes while feeling the burn.
