Ohhh Farmers Markets, how I love thee. Bopping around to different farmers markets is one of my top things to do in Chicago. You can explore other neighborhoods, bring your dog, try samples and come up with new recipes (Pro Tip: ask your sales staff their best use of produce, they always have great ideas!).
While all Summer long is an excellent time to go, my favorite time is when it cools off and crowds reduce in September and October, which most locations go through. Green City Market is one of the larger spots situated perfectly across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo with live music, crepes, The Donut Vault food truck and so much fresh produce, honey, gelato, butchered meat, baked goods and flowers galore!
This time, we challenged ourselves to do a full dinner from just farmers market finds. While it all adds up price-wise, I know we’re contributing to a great cause, the food is fresh and it’s a great experience overall!
