If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know by now that we took a quick trip to Charleston and surprised my mom for the weekend. Just off the tails of our trip to Tulum (which reminds me– I need to post those pictures!), I still was craving a getaway and seeing my family made it so much sweeter.

My parents have now settled into a super cute townhouse in Mount Pleasant (where these pics were taken!) that surprisingly looks very similar to their home back in Arlington Heights– which is so strange. Needless to say, the weather is a major upgrade and they are an arms throw from downtown Charleston.

While there, #ChefAdrian, my dad and myself couldn’t help but plan the whole weekend–every hour was accounted for to make the most of the little time we had there. If you find yourself in Charleston only for a weekend, here’s what we did and what I recommend!

Friday Night

We got in around 6 PM– minutes before my mom came home– and stayed in Mount Pleasant that night for drinks, food and some live entertainment. It was the perfect night!

Cocktails: Liberty Tap Room

Dinner: Wando River Grill

After Dinner Entertainment + Dessert: Red Drum

That morning, we woke up early to start the day at the beach at Isle of Palm (IOP) and brought the puppies. Dogs need to be on the least at by 10 AM on the off season, so that was perfect. Then we headed out for a full day downtown for the opening of the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square.

Breakfast: Café Panama IOP

Daytime: Charleston Farmers Market

Lunch: Little Jack’s Tavern to-go and then walked to Hampton Park and ate in the many picnic benches.

Cocktails: Élevé Rooftop Bar at Grand Bohemian Hotel

Pre-Dinner Entertainment: Tavern & Table for cocktails before our Palmetto Breeze catamaran–which picks you up right at the restaurant on the river!

Dinner: McCrady’s Restaurant (inventive steakhouse by the Chef at Husk, Sean Brock)

Dessert: Carmella’s

Brunch: The Americano (perfect for Instagraming!)

And don’t forget about the perfect Saturday night outfit! I felt like this was so Charleston and was so excited to wear some color, skirt and open toe shoes. I mean, come on Chicago!

Happy Spring travels!
